CAVA Students Strengthen Leadership Skills at SkillsUSA California State Conference

Stories & Spotlights
CAVA Students Strengthen Leadership Skills at SkillsUSA California State Conference

CAVA students represented their school at the 59th Annual SkillsUSA California State Leadership and Skills Conference, where they strengthened their leadership abilities, developed career readiness skills, and connected with fellow SkillsUSA members from across California.

The conference allowed students to participate in leadership workshops, parliamentary procedure training, and collaborative learning experiences that build communication, teamwork, and professionalism. Students also connected with peers who share similar career interests as they gained valuable experience that prepares them for success.

CAVA’s efforts earned a Silver Chapter of Excellence Award after the school achieved a Level II Chapter of Excellence designation. The award recognizes outstanding achievement in chapter leadership, service, and student engagement. Students celebrated the accomplishment during the conference’s Evening of Excellence dinner.

Career Preparation Beyond the Classroom

SkillsUSA is a national career and technical student organization that helps students become skilled professionals, career-ready leaders, and responsible community members. CAVA’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs work alongside SkillsUSA to help students connect classroom learning with practical experience.

Students build technical knowledge while strengthening leadership, communication, and collaboration skills that employers value across many industries. SkillsUSA also encourages students to develop confidence, professionalism, and a commitment to lifelong learning as they prepare for college and future careers.

Leadership Through Experience

The conference challenged students to solve problems, communicate effectively, and work together in a variety of leadership activities. Parliamentary procedure training introduced students to the fundamentals of effective meetings, teamwork, and decision-making while reinforcing the importance of organization and collaboration.

Students also exchanged ideas with peers from schools across California, expanding their perspectives while building relationships with other future leaders.

These experiences allow students to apply their knowledge outside the classroom while exploring career pathways in healthcare, information technology, engineering, business, public safety, the skilled trades, and many other fields.

Celebrating Student Success

The Silver Chapter of Excellence Award reflects the dedication of CAVA students and staff to leadership, service, and career exploration. The recognition highlights the school’s commitment to providing meaningful opportunities that prepare students for success after high school.

Congratulations to all the students and educators who represented CAVA at the 59th Annual SkillsUSA California State Leadership and Skills Conference. Their hard work, leadership, and commitment to excellence continue to make the CAVA community proud.
