Second grader Azlynn felt uncertain about reading and writing when she began the school year at California Virtual Academies (CAVA). Her confidence faded early in the year, and learning no longer felt fun. Just a few months into the school year, Azlynn is now a motivated, independent student who loves to read, write, and learn each day.

“Azlynn now loves learning again,” said her mother and Learning Coach, Ashlie. “She asks me to read with her or to let her read to me, and she’s excited to log in for class each day.”

That enthusiasm is the result of hard work, encouragement, and the supportive environment Azlynn found at CAVA. The structure and consistency of virtual school helped her rebuild foundational skills while giving her the space to grow at her own pace.

“When Azlynn first started, she was hesitant to read aloud or write independently,” Ashlie shared. “A few months later, she proudly read an entire story to our family without hesitation. Seeing her excitement and confidence in that moment showed just how far she’s come.”

At CAVA, students like Azlynn are supported not just academically but emotionally, too. Regular communication between teachers, students, and parents ensures that families feel included every step of the way. “I always feel like I’m part of the learning team,” Ashlie said. “CAVA provides consistent communication, accessible resources, and caring teachers who truly partner with families.”

Virtual learning has also helped Azlynn develop independence and important life skills. “She’s learned how to manage her time, stay organized, and take ownership of her progress,” her mom said. “She’s gained so much confidence while still having the support she needs.”

Seeing her daughter’s transformation has been the most rewarding part of Ashlie’s CAVA experience. “The enthusiasm, growth, and confidence I see in her are truly remarkable,” she said. “CAVA’s program and the support of her teachers have made a huge difference.”

Today, Azlynn looks forward to reading and sharing what she learns, proving that with the right support, every child can rediscover their love of learning.
